We had another great day on the water. Not necessarily lots of whales, but quality sightings! We started off the trip with great looks at a minke whale, which we saw multiple times just off the boat. We even saw its "minke mittens!"

Then, after a hot tip from our friends on the
Granite State, we headed up north towards Boon Island off the coast of Maine. There we saw another minke whale, and one of our favorite finback whales - Comet! Comet is a female who was first spotted by BOS researchers in 1997 - very early on in our research! She had a calf in 2007 and was last seen in June and August of last year.

It was a little worrying watching Comet as she zoomed around multiple fishing buoys (entanglement in fishing gear is a threat even to fast whales like fin whales), but she appeared unscathed. Thanks to all who joined us today!
