July 2 Atlantic Queen

What a day for whale watching! Summer weather has been fantastic lately making looking for whales some what easy. Satula and Nile were in the same location again today, blowing bubble clouds and giving us nice close looks. The Atlantic Queen was full today with very happy whale watchers from all over New England. Unfortunately the news has gotten out about plentiful whales on the ledge. At one time we and Nile and Satlua were surrounded by 7 pleasure boats! These boats were getting to close and not obeying speed limits around whales. This made me and my captain very uncomfortable as one of the major issues our whales face is being struck by boats. I hope my lecture about the guidelines and there protection was heard by the boats close by. If you are a boater please keep a close distance away from 300-600 feet away with head on approach.
