Monday's Trip on the Prince of Whales

What a day! Although the whales have been moving around a lot these days, we had one of our best trips in terms of numbers today!!
7 -9 finback whales
5-7 humpback whales
3 minke whales
30 Atlantic white sided dolphins
1 harbor seal pup

The first humpback we have yet to ID but the other 2 that we were close to were Flask and Quote- 2 of our Jeffreys Ledge favorites!Humpback Whale, "Flask"

Humpback whale, "Quote"

Of all the finback whales we saw, Prong was seen along with two others (traveling in a trio!!) who are still yet to be ID'ed. One ofFinback Whale, "Prong"

Prong's friends had a very pointed dorsal fin as well as propeller scars on its back. I know I know this whale but haven't had a chance to ID it yet...stay tuned!
Finback with propeller scars- Just ID'ed at #9621!

This just in- This fin whale is #9621- a whale that hasn't been seen by BOS researchers since 1996!

We also had a special treat of seeing a tiny harbor seal pup, as well as a couple small pods of Atlantic white sided dolphins!! These were the first dolphins that the POW has sighted all season!!Atlantic White Sided Dolphins

Such a beautiful day today with all the whales and the calm seas! Join us soon on another trip, or visit our website to adopt a whale or learn how to help protect marine life! www.blueoceansociety.org
