We had a full boat on the Atlantic Queen yesterday. It was my first whale watch of the 2011 season, along with a few of our new 2011 interns, Anna, Zelia, and Lacey, school trips are always a good way to break in new interns. The ledge was loaded with spouts from a variety of marine life including Humpback whales, Finback whales, and a shy Minke whale. I was quickly saddened by "Bayou's" very damaged tail fluke. This whale was born in 2006 and already has very disturbing injuries. Our friends on the Prince of Whales had even more of a sad day, they were with a humpback who was visibly entangled! Calls were made to aid this whale in hopes it will get disentangled by trained professionals or disentangle itself. Come out and see us on The Atlantic Queen, a trip makes a great graduation, or birthday gift!!
