July 17 Atlantic Queen

Definitely a bumpy ride out to Jeffreys Ledge yesterday. Passengers were able to escape the hot and humid weather on land with a cool sea breeze and occasional salt spray. It was an exciting trip! We started the trip with two very close sightings of minke whales just off our port side. Our passengers had some great spotting skills which would come in handy during the remainder of the trip.

Because of the waves and increasing winds it was a little difficult to first spot whales out at the ledge, but good things come to those who wait. Once we located the whales we were surrounded! We had 6 or more humpback whales in the area, and got to spend some time with three of the individuals.

Some of the looks were very close to boat. I'm a firm believer that some of the humpback whales out at Jeffreys Ledge are just as curious about us and we are about them. It's always nice to share those moments with the whales.
