Our first stop was Satula as we actually saw this whale jump clear out of the water twice as we made our way towards this animal. Even from a distance, seeing a 20+ ton creature gain enough momentum and speed to leap from the water and crash down on the surface is an incredible sight.
We then ended up in an area where we were seeing whale spouts in all directions. Up and down these animals were surfacing, changing directions, and crossing paths. With other whale watching boats in the area, we all gave these animals plenty of space as there were more than enough whales for all the boats to watch and spread out with. We ended up coming across Mudskipper and her calf, along with Sloop in the area, before getting some looks at Literal who came up filtering water out of its mouth a few times.

We are all excited to have Mudskipper and her calf continuing to make their presense known on Jeffreys Ledge this season as this is the first year Mudskipper has been seen with a calf. Another new mom to add to the list of reproductive females for the population of Humpback whales here in the Gulf of Maine. Keep up the good work first-time Mom!!
Thanks for everyone who joined us today. The weather was in our favor as the rain stayed just far enough south to avoid any sprinkles during our trip, giving us lots of great time out on the deck watching the whales. Congrats to our first-time whale watchers who got a chance to see so many animals, and to those of you who revisited the boat and Jeffreys Ledge once again. We always enjoy when our passengers are as excited and appreciative for the whales as much as we are!
