Atlantic Queen July 13

Today We were kept very busy with 100 campers from UNH! The kids had fun asked ALOT of questions and also got a bit wet! As you can see from the photo this is when they saw there first whales today. We took them on a long ride today but they were very happy to see this Humpback whale! On our way home our volunteer Michelle Olsen, a 10 year marine docent from UNH got a great sample of plankton for the kids to look at. Lots of copepods in the sample but we also found what we think is plastic in there to which was disturbing. It has been said in some oceans of the world there is more plastic in the water than plankton! Start now by refusing plastic bags and buy a reusable water bottle made of stainless steel to help the marine environment! Our Humpback today was "Vault" who is just 2 years old!
