Atlantic Queen - Thursday's Trip

What a day! Thanks to the hardy passengers who braved sun, rain, wind, sometimes choppy seas, humidity, and then more sun as we headed out about 31 miles in search of whales!

Thankfully, after our long trek, we were rewarded with amazing sightings of a humpback who stayed in pretty much the same spot and continuously surfaced and fluked right near us!  Here's a series from one of the dives:

Even after searching through the whale catalog again, and conferring with our research coordinator, we haven't identified this whale yet, but if we do, I'll post its name and more info here!

There were also 2 fin whales in the area. It would have been great to get better looks at them, but it was also just nice knowing that we had 3 whales in the one area after having some slow days over the past couple weeks.

A special "shout out" to Karen from Merrimack, NH and her friend Myrna for visiting again. It's always great to see familiar faces on the boat. Thanks to all who joined us today and we hope to see you again soon.

Thank you, Jen! We were beginning to think we weren't going to see any whales today, but our patience was rewarded!

Seth,
Thanks for your comment and for coming on the trip. Yes, it was a long ride, but worth it! And nice to get the cool breeze, too! Hope to see you again soon!
