Happy to see a Sperm whale on the Atlantic Queen

When I first heard there was a Sperm whale around I honestly didn't believe it! Here are some facts on Sperm whales to add to the great blogs already posted by our friends on The Prince of Whales and The Granite State.
1. Sperm whales are the largest tooth whale and the largest toothed animal in the world.
2. Its head cavity can hold a small car.
3. There brain is the largest and heaviest of ALL animals, 20lbs
4. It's blow reaches 50ft into the air.
5. They only have teeth on the lower jaw, 50-60 of them weighing 2.2 pds each.
6. It has a 4 chambered heart that weighs 277 pds, as much as 2 average adult humans.
7. There head is the largest of any animal-20 ft long, 3 ft wide, and 7 ft across.
When you think about those facts you realize the gifts our oceans give to us. I wish this whale well in it's journey, whether it remains here or goes to deeper water. So many wonderful experiences have happened to me having the job I have, from spending time with endangered animals, changing peoples ways about litter and protecting our oceans to folks who have had tears in there eyes after being in the company of whales. For this I am grateful for my job with The Blue Ocean Society and the gently giants we have the pleasure to spend time with.
