Atlantic Queen August 23

The balance of the summer keeps getting better, the whales and weather have been wonderful, the sun is warm and the breeze is cooling down which makes for great whale watching.  We still need to work hard to find whales though.  Our first stop we had a minke whale who circled around us showing us "minke mittens" and its slender, sleek body.  We moved on to find 2 humpback whales, Pumpkin Seed and Crystal, swimming close with one another.
Pumpkin Seed and Crystal

In total today we had 2 humpback whales,3 minke whale,9 fin whales!  We werenot able to look at all 9 fin whales but they were all around us.  Our friendson the Granite Stategave us a call about some dolphin so we keep going past most of the fin whales and spent the last minutes of our beautiful day with a pod of 30-40 dolphin.  A perfect way to end our day with these energetic, playful, intelligent toothed whales!

Congratulations to Patty who won our raffle today "Stripes" which represents our atlantic white sided dolphin.
