August 19 Atlantic Queen

2 Fin whales
Another great day on the water, with plenty of baleen whales around!  In total, we saw 4 fin whales (including a pair traveling together) and 11 minke whales. We even got to see a bluefin tuna jumping!

Our first whale was just past the Isles of Shoals - it was a minke whale, that we got a few good looks at. We continued on a bit farther and saw a fin whale.

Then we headed further east to Jeffreys Ledge, where we found 3 fin whales (2 together, one traveling by itself), surrounded by several minkes!

We got great looks at one of the minkes especially. The fin whales were behaving very erratically - moving all over the place, so their surfacings were difficult to predict, but overall it was great to be surrounded by so much life!
